A Seasonal Life
when the snow melts, we start our seeds
when the maple sap flows, we tap the trees
when the last frost thaws, we plant our field
the more that we care, the more that we yield
if the ground grows dry, we carry the water
teaching our skills to our sons and our daughters
they grow excited, the garden bears fruit
we gather the crops, the berries and roots
harvest time is a big celebration
canning or drying is all preparation
for those cold winter nights, staying warm in the den
knowing that in spring, we'll do it again
